Lost Colony on Roanoke Island, North Carolina

Welcome to North Carolina

In New England, we learned that the Pilgrims were the first settlers. Now we know the truth. The Lost Colony in North Carolina was settled before Plymouth Rock; and of course St. Augustine, Florida came before both of them when the Spanish and French occupied that site decades earlier.

Completely different forest habitats than I am used to. Impressive live oaks, etc.

Elaborately carved wooden walls and a Victorian Garden also can be seen.
