Also visited the USS Cod, a WWII submarine that is intact and original, including entering through the sub using the original ladder, not for those with mobility challenges. Not sure what happened to my pictures, perhaps my camera battery was expended in the R&R Hall of Fame. I will keep looking for them. This submarine is being maintained by an independent volunteer group without government funding. It is a remarkable experience to see how these men lived and worked on these boats.

What a magnificent animal that is so well adapted to the varied extremes of its environment. This area has also managed to preserve its prairie dog populations, as well. As a result of the effects of these dog towns, they have been able to successfully reintroduce black-footed ferrets and the burrowing owl populations have increased.
