Sioux Falls, SD

Falls Park is dedicated to the namesake for Sioux Falls. The Sioux granite, aka Jasper, is famous for its strength. It was used throughout the region for building permanent structures. The Sioux also used it to make pipes and other everyday things.

On this location was a 5-story flour mill, the largest ever built in the US at the time, utilizing the river to power this facility.

There are many sculptures situated throughout the park as well. Walking, running and biking are popular in this area.

In the 1920s and 30s, a Japanese Garden was built and is being maintained by the city to this day. A beautiful and peaceful setting in this urban environment.

There is also a refurbished band shell from the mid 29th century that is again the site of weekly open air concerts throughout the summer.
